Markdown to HTML Converter
Write or open Markdown and get HTML source you can paste into a page, an email template or a CMS, with a sandboxed live preview next to it. You decide what happens to raw HTML, whether headings get ids and whether links open in a new tab.
Conversion runs in this tab and nothing is uploaded or stored.
How to use
- Type or paste Markdown, press Open .md file, or drop a file onto the box. Load sample fills a short example with a table and a code block.
- Set the options: GitHub-flavoured extras, line breaks as <br>, heading ids, new-tab links, and what to do with raw HTML written in the Markdown — show it as text, keep it, or remove it.
- Turn on Wrap in a complete HTML document for a standalone file, add the small stylesheet if you want it readable on its own, and use Minify to shrink the output.
- Switch between HTML source and Preview, then Copy HTML or Download .html.
Frequently asked questions
Is raw HTML in my Markdown safe?
By default it is shown as text, which is the safest choice. Keep it as HTML only for Markdown you wrote or trust: it is copied into the result exactly as written, including scripts. Links and images with unsafe schemes such as javascript: are always removed, and the preview runs in a sandbox with scripts disabled.
Which Markdown flavour does it use?
GitHub-flavoured Markdown by default — tables, task lists, strikethrough and autolinks — following the CommonMark rules for everything else. Turn the first option off for plain CommonMark. Output is plain semantic HTML with no inline styles and no classes except language-xxx on the code inside a fenced block, so it picks up the styling of the page you paste it into.
What do heading ids do?
Each heading gets an id made from its text, such as release-notes, so you can link to a section with #release-notes. Repeated headings get -1, -2 and so on, and Chinese headings keep their characters in the id. Switch it off if your site adds its own ids.
