Frequently asked questions

How long should a title tag and meta description be?

Titles are usually truncated past roughly 580 pixels, which is around 55–60 characters in Latin scripts. Descriptions commonly cut near 920 characters on desktop and 160 on mobile, so treat 155 characters as the practical target.

Does writing meta keywords help my ranking?

No. Google has ignored the keywords meta tag for many years, and it is not needed for a good snippet. This generator leaves it out on purpose.

Do I need Open Graph tags if I already have a description?

Yes, if the page gets shared. Search engines and social platforms read different tags; without og:image and og:title, shares fall back to whatever the platform guesses, which is often the wrong picture.
