UTM Link Builder & Campaign URL Generator

Enter the landing page once and the tagged link updates as you type. It is assembled with a real URL parser, so spaces, ampersands and Chinese characters come out encoded exactly the way analytics expects — and the breakdown table shows the raw value next to the encoded one.

Parameter breakdown

Parameter Raw value In the URL

No parameters yet — fill in the fields above.

The last column is exactly what sits after the ? in the link. A URL may only contain ASCII characters, so 中 is written as %E4%B8%AD and a space as %20. Analytics decodes them again, so your report still shows 中.

Reverse utility: remove utm_* from a URL

Cleaned URL
Turn on “Clean a pasted URL” above to use this.

How to use

  1. Paste the landing page URL. If it has no scheme, press Add https:// instead of retyping the whole address.
  2. Fill Campaign and Source, then pick a Medium from the list or choose Custom… to type your own channel.
  3. Check the Parameter breakdown table: the last column is the literal text after the ?, so you can see why 中 turns into %E4%B8%AD.
  4. Press Copy and paste the link into your ad. To clean a link you already tagged, tick Clean a pasted URL and use Copy cleaned URL.

Frequently asked questions

Which UTM parameters does Google Analytics 4 actually read?

The five this tool writes. utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term and utm_content map to the Source, Medium, Campaign, Keyword and Ad Content dimensions. Google also recognises gclid and dclid for paid clicks and _gl for cross-domain tracking, but names like utm_id or utm_campaign_id are not read into standard reports, so adding them only clutters the URL.

Does upper and lower case matter in UTM parameters?

It matters in the values. Analytics matches the parameter name case-insensitively, so UTM_Source still works, but dimension values are case-sensitive: Email, email and EMAIL become three different mediums and your traffic splits three ways. Keep values lowercase and use underscores instead of spaces. The builder warns you when the URL already holds a differently cased copy of a key you are about to write.

Will rebuilding the URL break an ad that is already running?

No. A tagged link is only a string, and rebuilding it from the same inputs gives a link that behaves identically, even where the parameter order or the %20-versus-plus spelling differs. What matters is changing a value: the live ad keeps pointing at the old string until you update it, and a renamed campaign or source starts a new dimension value in reports instead of merging with the history.
